In Stillness — The Mirror Within

In Stillness — The Mirror Within

This painting captures a moment that only exists when everything aligns perfectly. It requires a delicate balance, the rugged strength of the mountain range, the soft trace of snow that defines rather than hides them, and the swept clouds rolling in above.

But none of it matters without the most critical condition of all: absolute stillness.

On that day, the wind had to vanish completely. Because even the smallest gust would have rippled the surface, breaking the mirror and scattering the image. When the air finally settled, the lake didn't just reflect the mountains. It held the entire scene, the sky, the clouds, the peaks, in a unified, perfect symmetry.

For a moment, it was impossible to tell where the mountains ended and where the lake began.

That stillness reveals the true condition of the landscape. And I believe it offers us a similar invitation. When we can set the right circumstances for ourselves, when we find a calm and relaxed state of mind, we allow our own inner stillness to emerge.

In that quiet space, the noise of the past and the worry of the future drop away. And just like the lake on that day, we are able to see clearly where we are at this current point in our lives. Not where we think we should be — but where we actually are.

This painting is part of my personal collection and is not currently for sale. That said, if you feel a deep connection to this work and would like to make a serious enquiry, I'm open to a conversation. It would take a very generous offer to part with it. Get in touch.
